Rory began his career as a founder of a digitally savvy music company, The Militia Group, out of his USC dorm room. Within a few short years, utilizing innovative digital products and marketing programs, the company grew to a team of ten and became a partnership with Sony Music. He went on to sell millions of units, received an RIAA Certified Gold Record subsequently leading Sony to acquire the major assets.
Following his passion for innovation, Rory was recruited to join the leadership at Chirpify, a digital marketing, loyalty, and conversion platform. During this tenure, the business scaled to dozens of major clients including Marriott, Adidas, Oreo, Cheerios, Old Spice, Darden, Green Day, Warner Bros, Universal Music, and to millions of connected consumers.
Taking a career break before having a family, his wife, Keslie, and he relocated to Haiti, where he took a role as Managing Director of Haiti Venture Partners, an impact investment fund focused on clean water and energy.
Their first child, Jonsi, brought them back to the Los Angeles area, where Rory co-founded and lead product and marketing at venture-backed Airmule, an online travel & shipping marketplace. eBay took note and invited them into their accelerator program, and they also won awards including Best New Startup at the Phocuswright conference.
Rory advises and works with technology companies, brands, and artists/creators and has a passion for product, marketing, and people. Billboard Magazine hailed him as a ‘Top 30 executive under 30,’ and he received his bachelors with Order of Troy honors from the University of Southern California. He has been a panelist and speaker at various conferences and universities including USC, Cal State Fullerton, SXSW, Digital Summit, Digital Entertainment World, CMJ Music Conference, Billboard Conferences, Launch, Phocuswright, BTA, and more.
He lives with his wife, son, and rescue pup in Southern California.
